What type of Yoga do you teach?

Vinyasa flow Yoga. Moving the body through a sequence of poses guided by the breath. You will expect to learn core exercises, sun salutations, a standing sequence and enjoy deep stretches along with relaxation.

I am not flexible, can I still do Yoga?

Of course, to be flexible is not a pre-requisite for Yoga. You do not need to arrive to a gym ‘strong’ to be able to begin. The same applies to Yoga, many people come to improve their flexibility and enjoy the process of learning the areas that need practise.

I have an injury, can I still do yoga?

This may depend on your health professional’s guidance. It is always best to get in touch and inform your Yoga teacher of any injuries, health conditions or a disability that may affect your practice.

What do I need to start practising Yoga?

A mat, water and a smile!
Depending on where you are practising you may need a mat.
If you are attending a class/studio always ask, as they may provide mats. I have always preferred to use my own for hygiene and some mats can hinder your poses and not help!
If you are unsure what mat to buy, always check there is limited stretch and no bounce to the mat.
Additional props like ‘blocks’, ‘straps’ or ‘bolsters’ are not necessary to start Yoga but may come in useful to your practice and allow you to enjoy Yoga even more!
(Ask your teacher how they can help you.)
Have a look at my social media for a video of how ‘blocks’ can be used.

I am nervous about starting Yoga, any tips?

1.     Get in touch with me/your chosen Yoga teacher and ask as many questions that will help you.

2.     Look at my social media visual content and try some at home.

3.     Join an online class from the comfort of your home. (I teach online Yoga on Thursdays 6-7pm, please get in touch for the ZOOM link. Your camera does NOT need to be on if you don’t want it to be.)

4.     Enjoy a private session with a teacher to boost your confidence. (I offer 1-1’s in my home studio or to your home- click ‘book now’ under private sessions.)

5.     Join a class with a friend!

What should I wear?

The most important thing is that your clothing is comfortable. Bear in mind your Yoga clothes may require more movement than your day to day clothes.
Ideally choose something that gives you the freedom to move your body.
